| SOPA stands for Stop Online Piracy Act. From the title, this sounds like a no-brainer. Get rid of foreign companies who steal American content or design and turn a profit or give it away for free. But I encourage anyone not familiar with the ENTIRE bill being presented to congress to quickly become aware of what this affects exactly. It allows government to block AMERICANS from viewing a website if said website is accused of piracy. Thats right, in its current written form the government can forcefully take down a website accused of piracy or copyright WITHOUT DUE PROCESS. Do you frequently use Ebay? Craigslist? Sites like this will be attacked and shut down if this bill passes because apparently selling items (that you bought and paid for) infringes on companies rights. (because these large companies-we call lobbyists-who pay off goverment want you to only purchase new items from them). Use Wikipedia or youtube... or forums??? This bill could aim to shut down sites that SHARE public information for free. Lobb-er-companies want you to go through them and/or government controlled information Shit like this scares me. We need to limit the government, NOT the INTERNET. check the links http://www.craigslist.org/about/SOPAhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kepler-22bhttp://sopastrike.com/strike |

| The government wants to regulate the internet because it's the only place where people basically can say what they want. Fucck the politicians. They only do what makes them money. This is another example of giving into special interests. Fucking bullshit. |
